DEAR FOLLOWERS,
To show my immense gratitude for your support, I’m giving you guys the first look at 501step. For those that don’t know, I was in a band with some friends. I played guitar and Drew sang. When we broke up, Drew and I wanted to do something different, so we came up with this “dubpop” stuff that we really enjoy making.
To test the waters with this style, we decided it would be best to remake some songs we were digging. This is the first remake: Usher’s DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love. Although I do sing in 501step as well, this track is all Drew, and he NAILED it. We are extremely pleased with how this turned out and we should have the next remake and possibly an original done in the next few weeks.
TECH SPECS:
- Arranged, mixed, and “mastered” in FL Studio 9.
- NI Massive for the dubstep section, Refx Nexus 2 for the rest of the synths.
- Vengeance Clubsounds for most of the drums, as well as various other samples.
- Master effects chain= Waves SSL Comp (for mix glue) and iZotope Ozone (for loudness)
- Vocals recorded in Reaper, bounced down and re-imported into FL Studio for mixdown.
- Anything else just ask! :)
